We serve neighbors like you
To get food, you will be asked to self-certify your income and provide proof that you live in Southeast Ohio. We can serve people in Athens and surrounding counties. See the form below to see if you meet income qualifications.
We serve Monday through Friday from 10AM to 3PM at the back of the Athens County Job and Family Services Center in Millfield, outside Chauncey. Look for for signs from the north parking lot (nearest the dog shelter).
To ensure we are able to help those most in need, we follow certain guidelines, listed below. Other food resources can be found below.
Click the form to find information related to eligibility requirements for receiving food aid, set forth by the USDA TEFAP (The Emergency Food Assistance Program).
We are an equal opportunity provider.
If your household income falls below the listed thresholds (based on the number of family members), you are eligible to receive food aid from the Athens County Food Pantry.
Please be aware our guidelines permit assistance once every four weeks, twenty-eight days. You must provide current proof of residency (within the past 60 days). This requires presenting proof in two forms: a piece of mail addressed to you at your current address in Southeast Ohio – such as a utility bill, and photo identification – such as a driver’s license.
You may have someone pick up food for you if you cannot get to a food distribution location.
If you are in need of after-hours emergency aid, please contact us directly at: 1-(740) 590-7051 (The phone accepts texts).
If you're unable to get to the pantry personally, you can designate someone to pick up food for your family. Please write a note saying:
“I authorize (fill in name) to pick up food from the Athens County Food Pantry for me (fill in your name and birthdate).” Sign the note.
Have your proxy bring a picture of your ID (as an image on a phone, for example) and their ID.
Have your proxy bring evidence of your address in Southeast Ohio (a picture of a utility bill on a phone, for example). Ask for a proxy form, fill it out and return it, so we can have it on file.
The Athens County Food Pantry brings the food to different locations to make pickups more convenient for you. Check our events page to see where we'll be next.
A majority of our food is procured from the Southeastern Ohio Food Bank, affiliated with the national organization Feeding America. The food bank is also one of 12 food banks affiliated with the Ohio Association of Food Banks.
